Personal and Facility Security a Priority

Recently owing to any emergency that maybe foreseen, the Police has mooted Octopus unit of NSG in Tirumala. This step is in line with the newline emerging challenges that the country faces that got apparent from the Mumbai Attacks and surely we are upto the task ahead. The Newline Emerging Challenge being the Facility Security, Tirumala being a Priority Religious Site (PRS), which should be getting the status of Facility Security Site (FSS).

There are very many Facilities of National Importance (FNI) that need comprehensive security which is certainly a priority.

One of the priority areas in the Police Domain is the security to important people like the MPs, MLAs and Mukhyalog (VVIPs) and it is a Resource Consuming Exercise, taking a major portion of the Police Resources in its deployment there.

Henceforth the establishment of National Facilities Security Organisation (NFSO) and the National Personal Security Organisation (NPSO) should be a priority with the Indian Policymakers.

The two organisations essentially view the scenario in a National Perspective, with their respective National Centre acting like the headquarters and vesting Control, Coordination and Action with itself, the State Centre acting as the branchoffice binding/foreseeing the operations in each and every District Centre of the country.

This means, that the NFSO and NPSO are the organisations that take charge of the Facility and Personal Securities, and the Police will no longer have any role in providing security for them.

The two organisations being National Level Police Organisations cater to the needs and necessities of the respective Security Domains.

The Pehras (Guards) are selected on a national scale and Badhli (Rotations) are made every 5 years of their guarding in a security site. The two organisations being national, rotations are given to the Pehras in any state, on a national basis.

The two organisations will surely help in freeing the Police off the two jobs of Facility and Personal Security, that they are currently engaged in, thereby increasing the efficiencies of its personnel in performing the proper police duties.

Also, the services of the NSG should be sought only when there are necessarily forseen risks, as in the above case, and the security should be handled by the two dedicated organisations aforementioned.

Requisitions for Personal Security can also be made to the NPSO by Mukhyalog, who can get services from it as per their eligibility.

Vamsi.
